Azrielli Modiin
Jacob Lichter and myself visited the new Azrielli mall yesterday the day after it opened. Although it looks like an amazing project, huge with a fantastic selection of shops and cafes, I still find it unbelievable that attempting to get to the parking area we drove through topography that seemed to be similar to the harsh dunes of the Negev desert. Not one sign has been placed to direct you, so you have to guess where to go. I am sure that the Azrielli shopping mall will be equal if not better than any other shopping mall in Israel, but the fact that the railway station has no parking as far as I can see, cars park anywhere even if illegal, and the amount of traffic passing through what may be badly planned roads is very worrying. Road congestion could deter people to visit the mall but real estate close to such an ambitious project should become very valuable in the future. I have heard many people comment that a music cd/dvd shop is missing, something that should be basic in every serious shopping mall. I hope that can be worked out.
I hope that things will get organised over the next few weeks.
